A High Capacity Pump For Liquid Helium

A new reciprocating liquid helium pump used for forced flow of supercritical helium has been developed by KfK. The pump is a single-acting piston pump with the following performance: temperature range 3.5–20 K; pressure range 1–10 bar; maximum pressure difference between inlet and outlet 4 bar; mass flow rate 50–150 g/s (∼ 4500 1/h). The volumetric efficiency is greater than 95%.
