Grant Awarded To Alba For An Helium Cryostat

A grant has been awarded to ALBA Synchrotron, by the Spanish Competitiveness and Economy Ministry on the 2013 call for scientific and technological equipment and infrastructures to build a helium cryostat. This equipment will be specially designed to be compatible with the MSPD and CLAESS beamlines and will allow to cold down the samples to be analyzed close to a few Kelvin degrees. It opens a new range of possibilities for future studies by the techniques of X-ray powder diffraction and absorption at ALBA such as superconductivity, magnetoelectronic, spintronics, multiferroics and strongly electron-correlated systems. The European Regional Development Fund co-finances this operation by means of the Scientific and Technical Infrastructure and Equipment State Subprogram, of the Scientific and Technical Research Excellence Promotion State Program, at a rate of 50 % on the total operation costs. A way of making Europe.
